FREAKY FRIDAY!!!

Living at the Tower had its perks...one big perk was there weren't any Black Widow Spiders. It might have been because we lived on the 21st floor. Never-the-less the almost spider free environment was great. When we moved into our house there were many new perks that we didn't have at the condo such as, more space, more rooms, no spiders...I MEAN MORE SPIDERS!!! On Friday Adam decided to weed eat around the house and when he was finished he noticed some ants in the garage. They had been marching up and down the cracks in the concrete to our trash can to get food. Adam noticed that when they would leave the garage they would pass by a spider web. After spraying the ants, Adam sprayed the web as well and who do you think popped out. You guessed it Momma Widow. A side note about the Black Widow is that after she mates with the male, she will more often than not kill the male thus making her a widow. She then lays egg sacs like the one above that may contain anywhere from 200-300 baby widows. Pretty gross huh? Anyway, Adam killed her and found the male outside of the garage, perhaps waiting for his chance to have a little one on one time with his lady. Black widows usually mate during warm weather and we think they would have done just that had Adam not killed them. Ironically, it poured the rain after this fiasco and we think this would have definitely brought the male in. Boy were we lucky. The point of this story is to make sure you are careful when spring cleaning cause you never know what is in that dark corner or under that rock out back. Be careful!!!
